The Cavan IFC final is down for decision this Sunday, 8th of October in Kingspan/Breffni Park, Cavan between two Division One SFL sides, Ballinagh and Drumalee.

Both sides have struggled at times to reach their best form in this championship campaign, but will be hoping to turn on the style on Sunday, when a large attendance is expected to a double-bill of championship finals. In the other decider which is the curtain-raiser to the Drumalee v Ballinagh clash – a replay of the JFC – Swanlinbar and Munterconnacht meet.

Drumalee were defeated last season in the IFC decider by East Cavan side, Cuchulainns by two points – 1-6 to 0-7 – but will be looking to address that result on this occasion. However, they come up against a strong and determined Ballinagh side who are under the guidance this season of former Gowna and Cavan captain Bernard Morris.
In the recent semi-finals, Drumalee overcame a disappointing Drumlane side, while Ballinagh took a second game to overcome a spirited Ballyhaise side who almost caught them at the finish.

Interestingly, both sides have found it hard to get scores this season in the championship, and there is a feeling abroad that whichever side makes the better use of their scoring opportunities will go on and take the title.
Ballinagh with county star defender Anthony Gaynor in fine form are fancied to take the title. However, Drumalee have the hunger to succeed especially after last season. If Mickey Graham can get them to be more aggressive in front of goal and not rely on scores from the talented Darragh Gaffney they can go on and upset the Ballinagh applecart.

Hopefully, the crowd will be treated to a good open game of football, and less of the dramatics and carry-on that spoiled last weeks senior decider between Mullahoran and Cavan Gaels.
